The cotton bur or hull settings are made out of 14kt Gold Vermeil.

Vermeil is a heavy 14kt gold overlay layered onto a base of 925 sterling silver.
This is considered a luxury product using all precious metals. The gold overlay
should last for many years without showing wear and it will not tarnish.
This gives you a quality piece of jewelry much lower in price than solid 14kt gold.

What makes my cotton jewelry so unique is the hand carved stone which looks like it is actual cotton with its frosty finish. Stone Carving or stone Sculpting is almost a lost art. You will hardly ever see any pieces of any type of jewelry made today that features a hand sculpted gemstone. It is a very striking piece.  I have only offered my hand carved stones in solid 14kt gold settings for the last 20 years because they are each one of a kind and very labor intensive.  However now for the first time I am offering them in a more affordable 14kt gold vermeil mounting.

Actual size of each oval area is 11/16" tall by 1/2" wide by 1/4" thick.

The backs have a spring loaded plunger that is made for shirt studs.
